As one of the founding members of FIFA, Denmark made their first Soccer Worldcup final appearance at the 1986 Mexico World Cup. The Denmark soccer players mostly come from top European clubs thus they have a depth of international experience. Jon Dahl Tomasson is the team’s captain and he is supported by other quality players such as defender Daniel Agger (Liverpool), striker Nicklas Bendtner (Arsenal) and the midfield trio Christian Poulsen (Juventus), Dennis Rommedahl (Ajax) and Christian Poulsen (Juventus). The Denmark football team’s top goal scorer is Soren Larsen with a total of 5 goals.
Denmark Soccer Leadership
Born on August 14, 1949 in Vordingborg, Denmark, Morten Olsen is about to close on a decade as Denmark’s soccer coach. It is not known at this stage if Morten will renew his contract, which terminates after the South Africa Worldcup 2010 event.
In his days as a player, Morten Olsen was a defender who won in excess of 100 caps for the Denmark soccer team. At the age of 40, whilst playing for Cologne in Germany, Olsen finally decided it was time to retire.
In 1990 he began his coaching career, and led the likes of Brondby, Cologne and Ajax. He was then appointed as the Denmark football national team coach in 2000 and took the squad through to the second round at the 2002 Korea / Japan World Cup, but unfortunately the Denmark soccer team failed to qualify for the 2006 Germany World Cup.
Morten Olsen has been in the job the longest and continuously aims to get the very best out of each team player, and the 2010 South Africa Worldcup is no different.
